Why Brands #Fail on Twitter and in Social Media

I can’t say all brands fail on social mediums, but I will say a good 90% or more sure do. Social Media Marketing is much different than traditional,  it is not setting up a brand with a Twitter account or Facebook Page and Linkedin Group and now they are ‘using social media’. It is not a set of rules that people need to live by that work under the brand, and it is not necessarily the job of the ‘marketing manager’ to update.It goes beyond the understanding of how to use it and it’s benefit, it needs to be a lifestyle and an obsession. CommunicationNation-BannerThe biggest hole today in terms of communication is the fact that many people don’t communicate well. They tend to mesh all the kinds of rules of communication into one formal rule for themselves and this is a large fail for people they are trying to communicate with.  There is nothing worse than getting an email using horrible short hand abbreviations like  ‘Wud U look at sum docs 4 me pls’ and continue the conversation into the email using the same kind of language.

Canadian Marketing Association – Digital Media Day 2011

Our official and National Digital Media day is September 25th, and the Canadian Marketing Association is sharing their Digital Media day this year on October 20th at the Fort Garry Hotel.

Some of the topics of this event will discuss Building a Community on a Budget, How Social Media is Turning Sales upside-down and Location Matters, using place and content to change behavior.

Early Bird Tickets On or Before September 23rd
$225 (members), $325 (non-members)
Regular Tickets On or After September 24th
$325 (members), $425 (non-members)
