Game On Manitoba Returns from MIGS on a Positive Note

Last month, a group of 15 video game developers and industry stakeholders from Manitoba went to the recent Montreal International Game Summit (MIGS) to promote the Manitoba-based video game development industry under the “Game On Manitoba” banner.
Good traffic was generated at the “Game On Manitoba” booth and a number of inquiries were made on “what are the opportunities” in Manitoba, especially among the independent game developers. By showcasing the Manitoba companies, the existence of video game development in Manitoba was reinforced.
A number of companies were able to secure contracts and software. Fortune Cat Games Studio secured some critical operational components and project management software. Complex Games and Cogmation Robotics were able to establish and solidify a number of key contacts and discuss software license agreements. While Tomkorp Computer Solutions and Debreuil Digital Works drew in the crowds with their cool game demos, Project Whitecard took them to the moon and beyond on an educational tour.
The “Game On Manitoba” initiative to MIGS was viewed positive and the gang is now preparing for their ultimate road trip to San Francisco, California to the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in March 2010.
