Socially Active Communication – What Works?
Friday, April 30, 2010 7:34I don’t know if that is the correct term to use, but from all the various ways to communicate over the Internet or in some digital form we kind of see this as ’social communication’. Sometimes the content is dull, ‘Man I am tired’ or ‘People do not know how to drive’ and sometimes it is informative, ‘Do NOT take Pembina this morning, it is sooo backed up’ and what we hope happens the most is the helpful connections on an issue you might have, ‘I have no idea why, but my header is so not aligned, and I am not a CSS guru HELP!’
I frequently get asked, ‘Well you are the expert what works’, and although the word ‘expert’ I am too shy or modest to handle, I normally have a few things that I think work and could help you:
- Keep everything SIMPLE – your tone, personally and especially your expectations.
- Set yourself up with a schedule, try to keep it.
- Don’t kill yourself coming up with ‘the best content ever’ or bring the first one out the door with new information. ’simple’
- Consistency is KEY – This is beyond being true, it is flat out right! Recently LIV has had a bit of a hiatus because we have invested our time into getting to be part of a larger team and it was necessary…but it’s been about 7 weeks and that is about all the time we can afford being away.
- If you have to try HARD then likely social communication just might not be the thing for you…that’s too bad, but it is not the end of the world!
